Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri was an Indian actress, who gained fame for her role in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. The actress began her career in the late 1980s, and rose to popularity with her role in the film Tezaab in which she was a part of the cast alongside veteran actor Anil Kapoor. In the following film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. In the beginning, as a teenager in the middle class of Mumbai, she started to dance. When she was a teen, she began acting and struggled for years as the majority of her films at first were unsuccessful. She finally found success, and was one of the most prominent actors in the Indian film business. Her marriage led to a hiatus in her professional career. She returned later. Recently, she had an integral part in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the struggle of women across India. Dixit is nominated in fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these she's won eight. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian prize awarded to civilians in India, was bestowed upon her. Also, she is well known for her charitable works.
